Science North is an innovative and accomplished producer of customized large format films and videos for international audiences. We have produced films in HD (high definition) 3D and15/70 (IMAX®) films.
In 1994 the science centre opened its IMAX® Theatre and immediately began development of large-format films. Since then, Science North has produced four giant-screen films – Gold Fever, Bears, Jane Goodall’s Wild Chimpanzees and Mysteries of the Great Lakes.
In 2008, with the creation of Mysteries of the Great Lakes, Science North expanded its role in the industry by also becoming a distributor of giant-screen films. Science North has become one of the leading producers of giant-screen films in Canada. It is the only science centre in the world with an in-house large-format film production unit and it has built a reputation as a specialist in environmental and natural history themes.
Science North has also won several awards within the giant-screen films industry.
